DESCRIPTION: We teach children and families about conservation of energy, energy efficiency and renewable energy. We are a 501(c)(3) and a chapter of the American Solar Energy Society (ASES). Please read the ASES Climate Change Report (2007) which deliniates exactly where and how much every area of the United States supports different renewables. The yearly national convention of ASES will be in Buffalo in May, 2009, with a day of workshops open to the public. If you volunteer 20 hours, you may attend the convention which is all about saving the planet from fossil fuels for free.

The American Solar Energy Society is a chapter of the International Solar Energy Society (ISES) and has a representative at all times at the United Nations. ISES sponsors speakers at the UN.

FREE RESOURCES: We educate homeowners, co-op unit owners and business owners about the history of energy, the evolution of a carbon based economy, how to transition to a new energy economy utilizing substitutes for fossil fuels, job creation, education resources needed to make this transition and how to finance wise energy choices and pay for them with savings.

OTHER RESOURCES: NYSES offers free reprints of valuable renewable energy information easily found and ordered from the website. We have an exhibit booth with a solar oven, a solar thermal demo unit and various solar powered gizmos. NYSES is just a comfortable offering classes to k-12 as we are teaching adults. We offer workshops for the basics to the moderately advanced. We have a program to change building codes based on zeronet energy usage in any building, site design and water conservation issues. We have programs on alternative transportation and reducing particulates from air. We support geothermal as a prime renewable energy source for New York State. We host tours of energy efficient buildings and homes. We set up our workshops across NY state. We help others form coalitions in their communities to further the education of children and families about sensible energy options. Our members go to Albany and educate elected officials. Occassionally a solar powered band accompanies our presentations.
